Nominations for its 32nd Annual Youth and Prevention Leaders Awards are now being accepted by the Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services.

The award spotlights and celebrates young people who are going above and beyond in service to the Bristol community. Youth and youth groups may be nominated by adults that benefited from a community service project or volunteerism of a Bristol young person.

This is the second year the program includes recognizing prevention efforts in Bristol.

“The Youth and Prevention Leaders Award program is the city’s premier event that shines a light on the work of so many dedicated youth doing outstanding things to give back to their community,” said Superintendent of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services Dr. Joshua Medeiros in the release announcing this year’s award.

Nominations are open to individuals as well as groups and will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Friday March 29. Applications are reviewed by the City of Bristol Youth Commission. Award recipients will be honored in front of friends, family, and community members at an annual recognition ceremony held on May 8.

Nomination forms for both individual and youth groups are available online at www.bristolrec.com. Completed applications can be submitted via e-mail to Youth and Community Services Supervisor, Stephen Bynum, at StephenBynum@bristolct.gov by Friday March 29, at 4:30 p.m.

Youth/youth group award recipients will be notified of their selection by April 8. Award recipients will be honored at a ceremony held on May 8, at Muzzy Field.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
