Early March accident being investigated by Bristol Police

The collision of an automobile and a person in a wheelchair earlier in March is being investigated after the person in the wheelchair died this past Saturday.

Bristol Police officers responding to a call found Albert Sonier laying on the side of the road after a vehicle struck his wheelchair on West Street at Gridley Street on Sunday, March 3 around 6 p.m.

Emergency Medical Services evaluated Sonier, who was transported to an area hospital for further testing. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner notified Bristol Police on Saturday, March 16, that Sonier had passed away.

At this time, the case has been re-assigned to the Bristol Police Dept.’s Serious Traffic Reconstruction Team for further investigation.

It is unknown if the fatality was a result of injuries from the incident or previous medical history, the release from the Bristol Police Dept. states. Autopsy results are pending.

If anyone has witnessed the crash or has more information, please contact Officer K. Verillo at (860)584-3031 or email katherineverillo@bristolct.gov.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
