Gov. Lamont directs flags to half-staff today for Peace Officers Memorial Day
U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset today, Wednesday, May 15, in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day, as directed by Gov. Ned Lamont.
Peace Officers Memorial Day is a national observance paying tribute to local, state and federal law enforcement officials who have died in the line of duty. It is recognized annually during National Police Week.
“We salute and pray for every law enforcement officer who has given their life in the line of duty, and we keep in our hearts their families and loved ones,” Lamont said in the press release announcing the occasion. “I urge everybody in Connecticut to thank our law enforcement officials and keep those who have given their lives in your prayers.”
Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, in the same release, said, “As we observe Peace Officers Memorial Day, let’s honor the dedication and sacrifice of our law enforcement officials. They embody the essence of public service, bravely safeguarding our communities day in and day out.”

All TBE readers, supporters and donors
The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.
- Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
