The valedictorian and salutatorian for the St. Paul Catholic High School Class of 2024 were announced last week and will give their commencement speeches at commencement exercises this Friday, May 24, at 6:30 pm at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford.

Both were announced last week during the school’s Academic Awards Night.

Brianna Wood was named valedictorian of the Class of 2024. Wood will attend Boston College where she will major in mathematics and minor in music. She is the daughter of Bryan and Kimberley Wood of Bristol.

Wood received a Summa Scholar award during the awards ceremony. The award represents the top 5 percent of students within the Archdiocese of Hartford. At St. Paul, Wood has been a member of the National Honor Society, Math & Data Analytics Team, TED-Ed Team, Band, Performing Arts, Assistant Campus Ministry, Student Government and SPTV.

Anna Guzda was named salutatorian. She is the daughter of Kevin and Brenda Guzda of Bristol.

Guzda held the position of secretary for the Class of 2024 and was also co-editor of this year’s yearbook. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government, Blue Key Club (Student Ambassador) and the Social Media Task Force. She also played basketball, volleyball and softball.

Guzda will attend Villanova University in Villanova, Pa., this fall majoring in political science with her future sights set on law school.

Earlier in the spring, she was recognized as an Archdiocesan Summa Scholar by the Archdiocese of Hartford.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
