The Bristol Farmers Market will hold its grand opening Saturday, June 22 at 10 a.m., rain or shine, said a release from the new board under which the farmers market has formed.
The board is led by chair Dawn Nielsen, secretary Lindsey Rivers, treasurer Cheryl Thibeault with members including the following: vendor liaison Lorry LeMaire of Twin Pine Farm, business liaison Carolyn Verikas of the Bristol Bazaar, nonprofit liaison John Cassidy of the Bristol Rotary Club and community liaison Mickey Goldwasser.
Aside from operating under the new nonprofit board, the farmers market also will be at its new location, 10 Main St. The farmers market will meet Saturdays, June 22 through Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.
The board is seeking volunteers and sponsorships.
Community volunteers assist with setup, staffing the welcome tent and clean up at the end of market day. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Goldwasser via email at BristolCTFarmersMarket@gmail.com.
Among this year’s sponsors are D’Amato Construction, Barnes Group Foundation and Main Street Community Foundation. Sponsorships are still available. For a sponsorship packet, email BristolCTFarmersMarket@gmail.com.
The farmers market also accepts SNAP/EBT, WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition vouchers. SNAP/EBT funding has doubled this year with financial support from End Hunger Connecticut and the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation grants.
The Bristol Farmers Market also has a presence on social media, where the latest developments, vendors and musical entertainment is available. The Facebook and Instagram address is @bristolctfarmersmarket.
All TBE readers, supporters and donors
The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.
- Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
