Andrew Howe, city council member representing Bristol’s District 3, announced his resignation shortly after noon today.
“It is with serious consideration and much regret that I submit my resignation as City Councilman for District 3 effective June 17, 2024,” Howe writes in a letter to Mayor Jeff Caggiano.
“Please understand that I did not arrive at this decision easily,” he continues. “I love serving the community and the wonderful people of Bristol.”
The letter is time stamped “RECEIVED 2024 JUN-6 PM 12:20 TOWN AND CITY CLERK BRISTOL, CT.”
“My decision is personal, but best for my family at this time. I appreciate the calls of concern on my behalf and the respect for my privacy.”
He concludes, “Wishing Bristol much success. Warm regards, Andrew Howe.”
Fellow Republican Cheryl Thibeault, who also represents District 3, provided the following statement: “Andrew is not only my colleague but a friend. He has given his heart to Bristol and always went the extra mile for his constituents.”
“I am sad to see him step down from a position, he loves; and I will continue to be there for him and his family. I recognize it is not ideal for the city at this time, but the family must always come first.”
All TBE readers, supporters and donors
The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.
- Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
