A male injured Sunday afternoon in moped accident on Riverside Avenue was treated at a nearby hospital and then transferred by LifeStar for possible life-threatening injuries, undergoing surgery, police reported earlier this morning.
On Sunday, June 8 at around 4:30 p.m., officers discovered a moped with a seriously injured male operator and notified the Bristol Communications Division of the crash. Officers performed medical aid until medical could be taken over by EMS, the report states.
The operator was transported an area hospital and then transferred to a trauma unit hospital by Lifestar for possible life-threatening injuries and underwent surgery.
The initial investigation showed that the male operator was eastbound on Riverside Avenue and appeared to fail to negotiate a curve in the roadway, laying the moped down where it would come to a rest on the male operator near a curb line on Riverside Avenue by East Street.
The serious traffic accident reconstruction team was later contacted, who also responded to the scene to investigate. This crash remains under investigation.
The name of the operator is not being released at this time, pending next of kin being notified.
Officers conducted a canvas of the area but could not locate any witnesses. If you witnessed this crash or have any further information, place contact Officer Boisvert at (860)584-3036 or at spencerboisvert@bristolct.gov.
All TBE readers, supporters and donors
The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.
- Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
- Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.
Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
