Bristol Legion sweeps two weekend games on Saturday and Sunday to move into third place in Zone 1

Bristol parlayed great pitching with timely hitting to defeat EHM (East Hartford/Manchester) on Saturday, 10-0, and NCL on Sunday, 4-1. With the two victories, Bristol jumped into third place in Zone 1 with a record of 7-6, trailing undefeated West Hartford and Simsbury.

Ryan Maglio was outstanding on the mound and at the plate against EHM, pitching four shutout innings and going three for three on offense. Maglio struck out six EHM batters and issued only one walk to get the win.

Brian Grabowski and Thomas Pirog had two hits apiece for Bristol and EHM committed several costly errors as nine of Bristol’s ten runs scored were unearned.

In Sunday’s game, Bristol received more shutdown pitching. Thomas Pirog went four strong innings to get the win, striking out six and allowing only one hit.

Rocco Spirito was overpowering in relief, fanning six NCL batters in three innings.

Connor Cyr, Ryan Maglio, and Brian Grabowski got two hits each to account for all the offense for the Bristol nine. Maglio had two of Bristol’s four RBI’s.
