In Bristol, cooling centers are available at the following locations: (Please check times for availability.)

  • Bristol Public Library, 5 High St. — Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Fri 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Manross Memorial Library, 260 Central St., Forestville — Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m,; Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Agape House, 43 School St. — Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m.-12 noon
  • St. Vincent DePaul Shelter, 19 Jacobs St.
  • Brian’s Angels Homeless Outreach, 99 Summer St. — Tuesday through Sunday, 12-3 p.m.

The purpose of the protocol is to ensure that the most vulnerable populations receive protection from the severe hot weather conditions. While enacted, a system is set up for state agencies, municipalities, and other partners to coordinate with United Way 2-1-1 to make sure that information regarding cooling centers is available statewide.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
