The Bristol American baseball team carried a ten game winning streak into the state tournament this week, including their tenth win over Ridgefield.

Unfortunately for Bristol, that same Ridgefield team held them to two hits and only one run in defeating Bristol, 6-1, on Tuesday night.

The loss knocked Bristol into the loser’s bracket, where they faced Glastonbury on Wednesday. They bounced back from the Tuesday disappointment by beating Glastonbury at Muzzy Field by a score of 8-3.

Bristol was only able to scratch out four hits in the contest, but the opponent helped by committing a few key errors.

Declan Schenck pitched five and two thirds solid innings to gain the win, and Ryan Maglio closed it out with a perfect inning and a third in relief.

As a reward, Bristol gets to play Ridgefield again hoping for an offensive rebound. The game is tonight at Muzzy Field. The tournament website lists the game for 5:30.

If Bristol wins, they will advance to the next round double elimination in either South Windsor or Middletown starting on July 27.

BRISTOL 100 000 0 -- 1

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
