This year’s Bristol Public Library Friends Author Luncheon guest is Ann Napolitano, New York Times bestselling author, it was announced at this year’s author reveal earlier this month.

“I believe Ann is a great choice this year since her debut novel, ‘Within Arm’s Reach, recently was reissued in paperback,” said library director Deborah Prozzo.

“Her book, ‘Hello Beautiful,’ was an instant New York Times bestseller and Oprah’s 100th Book Club pick. Another book, ‘Dear Edward,’ was made into an Apple TV series.”

Prozzo heard Napolitano speak in March at R.J. Julia Booksellers in Madison. She said she was impressed by the author’s warmth, genuineness and heartfelt comments.

“Each author has such a unique voice which makes every Author Luncheon so exciting for attendees,” Prozzo said.

As for the process of choosing each year’s speaker, Prozzo said she keeps a continually updated list of authors who might be candidates for the luncheon, with an eye whose books are trending among book groups nationwide.

“There really is no one determining factor, but usually availability is right up there,” she said.

The Friends Author Luncheon has had among its guests, such notables, as Lisa Scottoline, Colson Whitehead, Min Jin Lee, Amor Towles and Stewart O’Nan.

This year’s Friends Authors Luncheon will be held Oct. 10, at the DoubleTree by Hilton. The luncheon includes a plate lunch, author’s presentation, Q & A and a book signing. Tickets go on sale Aug. 1.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
