John J. Kalahan III, 80

John J. Kalahan, III, 80, of Bristol, passed away at home on Monday, July 29. He was born on Feb. 4,1944, in Urbana, Ill., son of the late John J. and Anne (Colbert) Kalahan, Jr.

John was the loving husband of Dorothy (Sedlor) Kalahan for 54 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Russian Interpreter. John and his wife had a stained-glass business for over 30 years after his retirement from TeleMatrix, where he served as the president. He loved animals, was the “King of Dad Jokes,” and will be missed dearly by his family.

Besides his wife, Dorothy, John is survived by his daughter Shannon Kalahan of Manchester; son Sean Kalahan and his wife Hilary of Bristol; grandchildren Alysha Kalahan, Tyler and Dylan McIntyre; great-granddaughter Maeve McIntyre; sister Lorie Bradley of Arizona; brothers Kevin and Brian Kalahan both of Vermont, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours on Saturday, Aug. 24, at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave. Bristol from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A funeral home service will begin at 3 p.m. The family requests that everyone wear bright colors (no black) to this celebration of John’s life.
