A block party hosted by Yellow King Brews at Bristol Bazaar last weekend attracted 75 people, who were treated to live musical entertainment and vendors offering their wares.

“People are saying its [the business] is a hidden gem,” store manager Hannah Maghini said about Yellow King Brews.

The block parties are a good way of getting to know Bristol and for Bristol to get to know Yellow King Brews.

The Saturday, July 27, event was the second in as many months and brought back vendors from the first event and featured new musical entertainment.

The event hosted vendors such as Hecho by Helena, a Latina shop with cups, stickers and more, CT Pop Shop that sold popcorn and more. New Haven Underground Jazz played at the event while Rock Solid Grill catered the event as the cocktail and coffee bar was open to the public.

To publish the event, Maghini said Yellow King used social media to connect with people who might be interested in these types of events.

Helena Fernandez, owner of Hecho by Helena, said she saw the bar was connected to The Bristol Bazaar and was interested in participating alongside the other vendors.

“We have a network, and a coordinator reached out to see if we were interested in coming,” she said.

Some residents of other town, such as Milford, also attended the event.

Val, who preferred not to use her last name, said she thought the event was interesting and she was enjoying the atmosphere of the party.

“It [the party] is good and the [drink] selection is good,” she said.

Chris, who also preferred not to share his last name, said they were on a hike near Yellow King and decided to stop by before going home and were enjoying the event.

Yellow King Brews will host its third block party on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Yellow Kings Brews is among the businesses at The Bristol Bazaar at 67 Race St. Its hours are Tuesday and Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
