Veterans Strong to host 3rd annual ‘Whiskey for Warriors’ fundraiser early in September

The Third Annual Whiskey for Warriors Fundraiser, hosted by Veterans Strong Community Center, will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at DoubleTree by Hilton on Century Drive, from 6 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $75 which includes a full buffet dinner, soda, coffee, dessert and a swag bag for the first 40 registrations. This event is open to anyone over the age of 21.

A complimentary whiskey, bourbon and canned cocktail tasting is also available. Alcohol tasting is being sponsored by Marvin Friedman from Maple End Package Store.

There are over 15 amazing raffle baskets, games, a designer purse valued at over $300 and so much more.

Last year’s event saw executive director, Donna Dognin, being recognized by the State Senate and House for her commitment to the Veterans in the Greater Bristol Area.

Veterans Strong Community Center, which kicked off its ninth year on July 1, provides resources for active-duty service members, veterans and their immediate families regardless of branch, time of service or discharge status. The center served 226 new clients in 2023 with over 8,000 interactions.

Each year Veterans Strong provides holiday gifts to over 100 veterans and spouses in skilled nursing facilities in the greater Bristol area, which includes Bristol, Burlington, Harwinton, Plymouth, Thomaston and Wolcott through its Secret Santa program.

Veterans Strong also hosts fun events like Valentines for Veterans and Patriots Day.

Tickets can be purchased online through www.vetstronginc.org under the fundraiser tab. Sponsorships opportunities are still available as well. Questions regarding the event can be directed to Amy Wernicki, info@vetstronginc.org or 860-584-6257.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
