The Main Street Community Foundation has announced that it is currently accepting applications from nonprofit organizations seeking grants for programs and initiatives that benefit the communities of Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott.

The Online Grants Center can be accessed through the Foundation’s website, mainstreetfoundation.org/apply-for-grant, which includes a link to the online grant applications and the grant guidelines.

Applications are being accepted for grants from the following funds:

Women & Girls Fund – Successful grant applications will address one of the three priority areas for local women and girls identified by community partners, which are services for senior women, confidence building and leadership, and mental health and well-being. Please see the Foundation website for further details on these priority areas. The deadline to apply is Sept. 6.

Bradley Henry Barnes and Leila Upson Barnes Memorial Trust – Nonprofit organizations may submit letters of inquiry (LOIs) for new capital projects, programs, or initiatives that improve the health outcomes of Southington residents. The deadline to submit LOIs is Sept. 20. Continued funding applications will open Sept. 27.

Men & Boys’ Fund – Grant applications must demonstrate the need for a program or initiative that assists local men and boys in improving the quality of their lives, increasing their self-sufficiency, and making a positive difference in their community. The deadline to apply is Sept. 20.

Interested organizations should contact Kate Kerchaert, Director of Grants & Programs, at kate@mainstreetfoundation.org, or another member of the grantmaking department, at (860)583-6363 for a preliminary discussion of their proposal at least one week prior to the deadline.

The Main Street Community Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for both present and future generations in the communities served by encouraging and promoting gift planning, prudent stewardship of assets, effective grantmaking and community leadership.

A nonprofit public charity, created by private citizens, the foundation works with donors in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott who wish to build permanent charitable endowments to support their communities. Since its founding in 1995, the foundation has provided over $29.5 million in grants and scholarships.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
