Tough times for Bristol sports 50 years ago today

Before 1,158 fans at Muzzy Field, the Bristol Red Sox lost to the West Haven Yankees 9-2.

Metairie, La., scored five runs in the 9th inning, breaking a 2-2 tie to defeat Bristol in an American Legion World Series game. Mark Ziogas and Bill Chapulis each had RBI doubles for the local 9 in the 7-4 loss.
