Good morning, Bristol!

Kernn Park | Staff

Welcome to WGMB. We got the beat that’s the heat that’s the jive that comes alive. Coming up next, news and traffic but first let’s go to the WGMB weather hut for today’s forecast.

Weather

75 with sun, clouds and comfortable conditions. Low tonight about 58 GMB degrees. 61 right now. Up next Cowboy Jack and Left Shark with “Her Lips Taste Like My Gun Rack.”

Speaking of radio

In 1952, Brooklyn Dodgers games were broadcast on Bristol’s WBIS. That year the Dodgers certainly “tore up the pea patch” going 95-57-2, capturing the NL pennant. But “Da Bums” lived up to their reputation and dropped the Series in seven to the Yanks.

It happened

In 1971, Mayor Longo threatened a photographer and forbade the WBIS news director from attending a press conference. Imagine that? Can’t imagine such silliness going on today. Can you?

Pull the plug

Freshest if eaten before date on carton, Bristol.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email ed
