In a Saturday evening contest, the visiting Thomaston Bears (4-6-2) tied Bristol Eastern, 1-1

The Lancers took an early lead in the first half as Alex Szynal won a ball near midfield and found Matt Cabrera on a short pass.  Cabrera then played the ball to a cutting Hunter Scott on the right side.  Scott cut towards goal and hit a hard shot past Thomaston goalie Cayden Marble at 35:06.

Eastern held most of the possession in the first half. However, they couldn’t find the goal again. Their shots went wide or were saved by Marble.

“It’s frustrating to get so much possession and not be able to finish, ” said Eastern coach Bill Sweet. “Credit goes to the Thomaston defenders who did just enough to deny us another goal.”

Early in the second half, a Lancer back misplayed a ball. Thomaston’s Tiago Silva took it in on goal and scored. He hit a hard ground shot past Eastern’s goalie Connor Murtaugh at 36:37.

The Lancers continued to move the ball into the final third. However, they were unable to score. BE’s Murtaugh had to make a sharp save against the Bears’ Justin Dionne midway through the period. The game remained a tie.

Thomaston’s Marble ended with 15 saves while Murtaugh had 5.

Eastern’s record is now 1-6-3.
