Motorcycle fatality on Oakland Street in early morning

A second motorcycle fatality in as many weeks occurred early this morning on Oakland Street just off Farmington Avenue, according to a police report.

Bristol police officers on patrol were traveling on Farmington Avenue in the area of Oakland Street when a pair of motorcycles traveling westbound passed them traveling at a high rate of speed.

The cruiser turned around to attempt to stop the motorcycles, and the officers found that one of motorcyclists had failed to negotiate the turn.

Lifesaving measures were taken on the motorcycle operator who had crashed, and they were transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The Bristol Police Department Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START team) were contacted and responded to the scene to process it. The roadway remained closed until 6 a.m.

At this time, the operator’s identity will not be released until next of kin is notified.
