Elisabeth von Trapp in concert at Bristol Public Library this Friday

Elisabeth von Trapp, form the family whose story inspired “The Sound of Music,” will appear in concert at the Bristol Public Library, Friday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m.

The concert is free. Attendees are asked to RSVP with the library, either at the circulation desk, online at bristollib.com or by calling (860)584-584-7787, ext. 3.

Von Trapp has performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C, and European cathedrals. Born and raised in Vermont, von Trapp is the granddaughter of the legendary Maria and Baron von Trapp, whose story inspired the movie, “The Sound of Music.”

Carousel Museum Gala set for Nov. 2

This year’s Carousel Museum Gala, with the theme “Golden Age of Hollywood,” will be held at the museum, Saturday, Nov. 2, from 7 to 11 p.m.

Relive the golden era of cinema with live entertainment and classic film showcases while mingling with carousel lovers and museum fans dressed in their glamorous Hollywood attire of their own.

F. N. Manross Memorial Library to host veterans Nov. 9

The F.N. Manross Memorial Library’s 2024 Veterans Appreciation Social will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 10 am. This program was originally hosted and organized by Bob Montgomery who writes for the TBE.

The program is free. Veterans and their guests are invited to attend, join in the fellowship and enjoy refreshments. Registration is recommended online at F. N. Manross Memorial Library – Bristol Public Library (bristollib.com), by calling (860)584-7790 or stopping in.

All ticket purchases directly support the Carousel Museum, by helping to preserve the beauty and history of carousels for future generations.

Bristol Historical Society to sponsor gaming club meeting

The BHS Gaming Club will hold its monthly event at the Bristol Historical Society on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Library to host ‘Write & Illustrate Club’ on Tuesdays

The “Write and Illustrate Club” will meet Tuesdays this fall at 6 p.m. at the Bristol Public Library.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 15. The program in the Children’s Dept. not only writing and illustrating stories, but also to make friends.

Phantom Fall Fest closes out this weekend at Lake Compounce

This year’s Phantom Fall Fest at Lake Compounce closes out this weekend.

The fear kicks into gear Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, Oct. 25, 26 and 27 at 6 p.m.

All haunted attractions, daytime activities and rides are included with admission.

The 2024 Phanton Fall fest features two new offerings–Bloodcraft and Malignant: Overgrown Evil–joining favorites mAlice in Wonderland 3D and MediEvil.

Bloodcraft largest and most interactive haunt ever introduced during Phantom Fall Fest. Malignant: Overgrown Evil challenges guests to navigate an abandoned garden with its vines and fog standing in the way.

mAlice in Wonderland 3D, a three-dimensional rabbit hole, hosts evil inhabitants of a twisted Wonderland. MediEvil brings guests face to face with the Inquisitor, ruler of a medieval chamber of chaos, filled with never-ending punishment and no way to escape the dark fate that lies ahead.

Phantom Fall Fest also features more than 20 rides and attractions including the re-tracked Wildcat Roller Coaster, day and nighttime rides on Boulder Dash, kiddie land rides during the day. Park guests can also feast on fearful bites like blood bags, zombie funnel cake and savory turkey legs.
