75 years ago, this week in Bristol

On Oct. 21, 1949, there was a masquerade party at North School. It was a night of games and dancing.

A bus line was proposed by the Bristol Traction Company from Federal Hill to Prospect Street, stopping at the train station.

Court

The case of Anthony Rogers of 426 West Street, charged with violation of road rules, was nolled without cost.

New borns

Babies born at Bristol Hospital on Oct. 23:

A daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Schmitt of 270 West St.; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Labazio of 189 Divinity St.; a son to Mr. and Mrs. John Sirko of 116 Greene St.

Social scene

Speaking of the 23rd, Bliss and Anna Burgess of 147 Stearns St. held a tea party from 3-5. Guests included all the teachers and nurses of the Park Street School where Mr. Burgess was the principal.

The 26th saw Raymond F. Robbins, the instructor at the Bristol Art Center, as the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Bristol Women’s Club at the Prospect Methodist Church. Mr. Robbins talk was accompanied by pictures, and he showed some of his paintings. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Vernon Grant.

That same day, Ann Burghoff of 78 East Main St. in Forestville, hosted a meeting of the Urania Reading Club in her home. Frances Francavilla was the reader.
