Atem Caron is the new facilities maintenance technician, Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services announced in a release yesterday.
The facilities maintenance technician is responsible for daily maintenance, custodial work, operation and safety of the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center, Page Pool and Rockwell Pool.
This includes upkeep of all facility mechanical systems used to regulate water and chemical balance, pool cleaning and other maintenance functions.
Since 2017, Atem Caron served in the Aquatics Division as an American Red Cross Lifeguard and was promoted in June 2020 to Lead Lifeguard where he supervised lifeguards, front desk attendants and water safety instructors.
In addition to these duties, Atem worked closely with the Aquatics Supervisor and former facilities maintenance technician to learn the ins and outs of pool maintenance. In September 2024, Atem achieved his Certified Pool Operators (CPO) License with the National Swimming Pool Foundation.
“As a department we employ hundreds of part-time and seasonal staff each year. We have a lot of outstanding staff but every once in a while, we find those individuals that are truly committed to the job, incredibly dedicated and hardworking, and come back year after year because they love what they do,” said superintendent Dr. Josh Medeiros in the release.
“Atem is one of those people. We are so excited to be able to promote him into this role and look forward to seeing him continue to improve our aquatics facilities.”
Caron began his new role on Tuesday Oct. 22.
