The Cross Country State Championships were held this past Saturday. Here are the results for both Eastern and Central.
Bristol Eastern
Bristol Eastern Boys
The Bristol Eastern Boys competed in the Class MM championship at Wickham Park this past Saturday and placed 6th in the division.
Jase Koczur led the boys team with a time of 17:36 and qualified for the State Open in the process. His season continues this Thursday in the State Open Championship at Wickham Park.
Seniors Brendan Tartarelli (18:05), Kyle Kelley (18:09), and Jonathan Casarola (18:43) finished their Bristol Eastern Cross Country careers in fashion with awesome races.
Cole Beland, Szymon Winiarczyk, and Christian Ferraro also raced well and finished the year strong.
Bristol Eastern Girls
The Bristol Eastern Girls competed in the Class L Championship and placed 16th in Class L.
Kaelyn Gonzalez, with a time of 21:22, led the Lancer ladies and also qualified for the State Open. Her impressive season continues this Thursday in the State Open at Wickham Park.
Eastern had a young team that ran well behind Kaelyn.
Sophomore Calliope Gallagher (23:37) ran tough as did Junior Ace Vu (27:21).
Freshman Tesly Coello, Maryn Primus, and Maiya Gibson also had strong State Championship debuts.
Coach Paul Ryskowski stated, “I’m very proud of this young girls team! They made a lot of strides and are motivated for what’s to come.
State Open Qualifiers
Ryskowski said, “I’m very proud of Jase Koczur and Kaelyn Gonzalez for making it to the State Open. They represent Bristol Eastern the right way and have earned this moment.”

Coach Tamara Stafford said, “The Class L Championship was a strong end to our season with many personal bests at tough Wickham Park. The kids were positive and very excited for the future as we are only graduation four runners. To our seniors Nick DiMatteo, Braydan Dwyer, Aiden Georgakopoulos, and Ruth Smith – you have all worked so hard and set a great example for the younger runners. You will be missed.”
Sophomores Naythan & Noah Pellerin and Emersyn Mazzei led the team on the course once again and Stafford is eager to see them on the course as juniors with another year of maturity and strength.
