The World War II Legacy Foundation and the Iwo Jima/World War II Traveling Military Museum sponsored a Remembrance Event for World War II Veterans that was held in East Hartford.
Caminiti and Neal Supranovich, both members of the American Legion Post 2 from Bristol, were part of the ceremony. Post 2 performed the “Missing Man Table” ceremony.
Caminiti is a Iwo Jima Survivor who just turned 100. He was joined by Rosario Lombardo of New Britain, an Army World War II Veteran and Bronze Star winner who turned 100 this summer, Mario Forte.
Don Scott was on hand to show his paintings of World War II veterans he has painted over the years. He brought along with him his latest painting. A number of the paintings were of Veterans from Connecticut.
A carving done by Bristol World War II Navy veteran Dick Fitz was on display. Fitz was unable to attend the event due to family matters.
