The 2024 hydrant flushing season will continue in the Matthews Street and Terryville Avenues areas on Tuesday, Nov. 12, the Bristol Water and Sewer Department announced in a release late in the week.
The following areas may be affected:
- Clark Avenue,
- Matthews Street,
- Minor Street,
- Wintergreen Road,
- Peppermint Lane,
- Hill Street,
- Pinehurst Road,
- Winterberry Circle,
- Summerberry Circle,
- Nursery Circle,
- Terryville Avenue,
- Everett Street,
- Bird Road,
- Smith Street,
- Sand Hill Road,
- Ridgecrest Lane,
- Empire Way, and
- some of the surrounding areas.
Flushing will continue in this area until the next area is posted.
Hydrant flushing begins on these streets and adjacent ones at 7 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.
Low pressure and discolored water is to be expected during flushing and for short periods afterwards. The recommendation is to refrain from washing clothes during this period. Running an outside faucet or the cold water in a bathtub until the water runs clear is also recommended.
