Those shopping at Stop and Shop today are reporting that many shelves are sparsely supplied and some items are not available at all.
The corporate parent of Stop and Shop is reporting what it is calling a cybersecurity issue and that the company’s American stores were experiencing the problem.
The Dutch company Ahold Delhaize, Stop $ Shop’s parent company, announced that the stores were experiencing a problem.
In the Ahold Delhaize announcemnt, they stated that “Immediately upon detecting the issue, our security teams began an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts. We also notified law enforcement. Our teams are taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue. This includes taking some systems offline to help protect them.”
Stop & Shop officials also released a statement, saying that “customers may see more limited inventory than usual for certain products” until the problem is resolved.
The company tried to reassure customers, stating “Stop & Shop is committed to serving our customers, and we are taking steps to ensure our stores are stocked for our shoppers in the coming days.”
