‘Bells for Peace’ ceremony held at Rockwell Park honors veterans

On the Morning of Nov. 11, the Bristol Veterans Council held its annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony. Individuals met at 11 a.m. at the Rockwell Theater to honor our Veterans, with members from all the military organizations helping with the ceremony.

Two Bristol World War II Veterans, Iwo Jima survivor Joe Caminiti and Navy Gunner Robert “Dick” Fitz, rang the bell from the U.S.S. Kidd; a World War II destroyer notable for its service in the Pacific Theater.

The ceremony consisted of the POW/MIA Missing Man Table Ceremony, done by CSM (Ret.) Ed Litherland and MSG Tim Gamache.

The American Flag and the Connecticut State Flag were placed by the Department of CT. American Legion Color Guard. A rifle volley was firered and taps played by American Legion, Post 2 Honor Guard. Miss Chrysanthemum, Manette Masse, and Little Miss Chrysanthemum, Emmie Wilson, helped with the ceremony.
