Additional rubbish barrel renewals and requests are available through Public Works

Additional rubbish barrels, new customers or renewals, are now available from Public Works, Public Works announced in a release yesterday.

The City of Bristol provides each residential property (1-5 unit buildings) with one rubbish barrel and one recycle barrel per unit. For example, two-family homes have two rubbish barrels, five-unit homes have five rubbish barrels.

Any additional rubbish barrels are $155 per barrel for the calendar year. The fee is no6t pro-rated for late payments, so the city recommends to get the most of the service, paying as soon as possible, according to the release.

The collection period is Jan. 1 (or date of payment) through Dec. 31. Additional rubbish barrels will be emptied weekly, on the regular rubbish day.

Barrels may be purchases online at the following link–2025 ADDITIONAL RUBBISH BARREL SUBSCRIPTION FORM–which covers new service, renewals and replacement stickers, or in-office transactions.

Online and in-office credit/debit card transactions are subject to a convenience fee, typically 2.95 percent.

The subscription form must be filled out with all methods of payment, whether online, via mail or in-person. Beginning Jan. 1, a current-year sticker must be applied to your additional rubbish barrel for continued service. For your convenience you may renew your additional rubbish barrel here.

If paying by mail, please mail the check (payable to The City of Bristol) to the Public Works Department 111 North Main St., Bristol, CT 06010. In-person transactions are available during office hours at Public Works Department in city hall.

Online and mail-in transactions will receive stickers via the U.S. Postal Service. If paying in office, stickers will be made available immediately.

To replace a lost sticker, there is a $10 fee, which requires completing the online form.

Those who are not interested in renewing an additional rubbish barrel are requested to call Public Works, at 860-584-6125 so Public Works and can retrieve it.
