The Bristol Brass & Wind Ensemble will host its highly anticipated annual holiday concert under the direction of conductor Kyle Camerato.
The event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, at Bristol Eastern High School, located at 632 King Street.
This year’s concert promises to be a festive celebration of the season, featuring a lively selection of holiday favorites to help concertgoers get into the holiday spirit. The ensemble will also welcome a special guest percussionist, Mary Gardner, known for her expertise in world music, marimba orchestral percussion, and bodhrán.
“We are also honored to have special guest percussionist Mary Gardner joining us on bodhrán,” Brass & Wind Ensemble member Jayne Marra said. “Mary Gardner studied at the University of Limerick and has performed with many nationally acclaimed Irish musicians. She has appeared on stage at such notable venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the National Concert Hall in Dublin, NYU’s Skirball Center for the Arts, and has had multiple musical tours in Ireland.”
In addition to her performing career, Gardner teaches beginning band and directs percussion studies for Westport Public Schools.
Alongside the music, the Bristol Brass & Wind Ensemble will be hosting a holiday cookie sale and a 50-50 raffle. All proceeds from the sale of the holiday goodies will go towards keeping concert admissions free to the public.
The concert is free and open to the public, though monetary donations will be accepted. The ensemble invites all to attend and enjoy an afternoon of holiday cheer, community, and live music.
