The Bristol Chorale will celebrate their annual holiday season with a festive concert, “Love & Joy,” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, at Bristol Central High School.
The performance, which features a wide range of seasonal music, will be directed by Andrew Skinner, with Roberta Verbyla serving as associate director and Jane Theriault as the accompanist.
The concert’s centerpiece is the lively and heartwarming piece Here We Come A-Wassailing, from which the program title “Love & Joy” is drawn. The Chorale will also perform a variety of holiday music, including Edward Elgar’s moving The Snow, a work he composed in collaboration with his wife, Alice.
The program will also highlight stirring spirituals, including Rise Up Shepherd and Follow, and the traditional Hanukkah prayer Hanerot Halalu, sung in Hebrew.
The performance promises to create warmth and holiday cheer while creating a rich celebration of both cultural and musical traditions.
Tickets for the concert are $20 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under. They are available for purchase at Michael’s Jewelers, through the Chorale’s website at bristolchorale.org, or at the Chorale’s Monday evening rehearsals at Faith Lutheran Church, located on Stafford Avenue, between 6:00 and 6:45 p.m.
The Bristol Chorale is a non-auditioned, adult community chorus made up of singers from the greater Bristol area. The Chorale is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with funding derived from member dues, donations, and ticket sales from its two annual performances.
