The 19th annual Holiday Showcase of Stars, with its theme, “Merry and Bright,” will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at St. Paul Catholic High School auditorium, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
The holiday classic features its “cast and crew of volunteers” of over 100, many of whom return year after year either as seasoned performers or working behind the scenes, features a kids chorus, soloists, duets and quartets, said director Deb Schur.
“The kids in our chorus are just amazing,” Schur said. “We gave them some pretty challenging numbers this year and they truly rose to the occasion.”
Among the performances are classic Christmas songs and chorus numbers from the movie “Spirited,” which blends nicely with the dance numbers, Schur said.
“It’s truly an honor and a blessing to direct this wonderful, beautiful cast,” she said, and added, “Our cast motto is ‘God always sends us who and what he need.'”
The diverse group of performers comes from various schools, churches and walks of life, she said.
Proceeds from the production are split between St. Joseph and St. Matthew schools. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children under 12. They are available at St. Joeph and St. Matthew rectories, after all masses at both churches or by contacting Deb at (860) 585-1515.
