George Bernard McPhee, 92

George Bernard McPhee, 92, of Bristol, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024. He was born on July 4, 1932 in Bristol, son of the late Daniel and Mary (Doherty) McPhee. George was the loving husband of the late Orla (Wessels) McPhee for 62 years before her passing in 2017.

George served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. George also enjoyed watching the Men’s and Women’s UConn Basketball teams and the Boston Red Sox. George never missed baseball games and track meets for his grand kids.

George leaves his sons, Daniel P. McPhee (Pamela Kowalczyk) of New Hartford, G. Steve McPhee of Bristol, Michael A. McPhee (Jeannine) of Terryville and James P. McPhee (Cheryl) of Bristol; grandchildren Stevie, Kristen, Ashley, Amanda, Dan, Mariah, Brian, Michael; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary McMahon of Waterbury, Gertrude Shopey of Simsbury, Dorothy McPhee of Bristol and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, George is predeceased by his son, Brian, daughter in law Joyce, grandson Sean and brothers Francis, John and James.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gregory Church at 11:00 a.m. A burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
