Get creative by joining the Gingerbread House Decorating Contest
Participants will craft their gingerbread houses on a provided 16 x 24-inch base, which can be picked up from The Bristol Bazaar. Creative competitors are encouraged to showcase their imagination with unique candy-covered creations, whether entering for fun or as a business.
For businesses, the contest provides an added bonus: logos featured on the Bazaar’s website, weekly e-newsletter and social media posts.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to Toys for Tots, making every sprinkle of sugar and dab of frosting count toward spreading holiday joy to children in need.
A sweet history of gingerbread houses
The tradition of gingerbread house making dates back to 16th-century Germany, where elaborate creations became associated with Christmas celebrations. The popularity of these edible structures soared after the Brothers Grimm published the fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel,” featuring a house made entirely of sweets. Today, gingerbread houses are a cherished holiday activity, combining creativity, community, and a touch of nostalgia.
