HARTFORD — Governor Ned Lamont announced that U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will be returned to full-staff at sunset today, Dec. 3, following a period of mourning for the late former Governor M. Jodi Rell.
Flags have been flying at half-staff statewide since Rell’s passing on Nov. 20, as a mark of respect for her legacy. This morning, Rell will lie in state at the Connecticut State Capitol, giving residents a final opportunity to pay their respects. A funeral service will follow that afternoon at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford.
A private interment ceremony will take place at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown at a later date, which has not yet been determined.
Rell, who served from 2004 to 2011 as Connecticut’s 87th governor, is widely remembered for her leadership as Connecticut’s first female Republican Governor.
