As the holiday season kicks into full swing, Bristol is hosting a variety of festive events that are sure to bring holiday cheer to residents and visitors alike. Whether you’re looking to share a festive evening with family, enjoy some local culture, or simply embrace the holiday spirit, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a roundup of four exciting events happening this weekend in Bristol.
Santa’s Walking Wonderland at Indian Rock Nature Preserve
Friday, Dec. 13 at 5:30-7:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 5 -7:30 p.m.
Visitors can experience a magical winter experience at Santa’s Walking Wonderland at the Indian Rock Nature Preserve, located at 501 Wolcott Road. This beloved holiday event offers visitors the chance to take a stroll through the woods while enjoying a range of festive activities. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Elf Kevin will be on hand for personalized visits, and families can enjoy classic holiday treats like s’mores, hot cocoa, cookies, and caroling. There will also be arts and crafts for the kids and an opportunity to visit with farm animals.
Tickets are $8 per person, and preregistration is required. All proceeds benefit the Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut, supporting their important environmental education and conservation programs.
Mantels for the Season at the American Clock & Watch Museum
Friday, Dec 13, – Sunday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Step into a winter wonderland of whimsical fireplace mantels at the 7th Annual Mantels for the Season event at the American Clock & Watch Museum. This festive display features beautifully decorated mantels, each one uniquely designed by local groups such as the Bristol Adult Resource Center, CSN Home Staging, The Bristol Bazaar, and more. The designs incorporate antique timepieces from the museum’s collection, creating a charming blend of holiday decor and history.
The museum is open Friday through Sunday, and admission is included with your museum ticket.
Immanuel Lutheran Church & School Annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting
Saturday, Dec. 14, at 6:30 p.m.
Join the community for the Immanuel Lutheran Church & School’s Annual Outdoor Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Sing on Saturday, December 14 at 6:30 p.m. This cherished Bristol tradition will take place outside the church at 154 Meadow Street, across from the Boys & Girls Club. Gather around the tree to sing your favorite Christmas carols, sip on hot cocoa and enjoy freshly baked cookies. The festive luminaries lining the area will create a cozy atmosphere perfect for a holiday gathering.
The event will also feature a toy drive for children aged 0 -18 in support of the Bristol Police Department’s Toy Drive.
Bristol Chorale’s “Love & Joy” Holiday Concert
Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m.
Wrap up your weekend with the Bristol Chorale’s “Love & Joy” holiday concert at Bristol Central High School on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. This festive performance, directed by Andrew Skinner and Roberta Verbyla, will feature a rich mix of seasonal music that includes both classic carols and unique musical traditions. Highlights include the lively title piece “Here We Come A-Wassailing,” along with Edward Elgar’s poignant “The Snow,” stirring spirituals like “Rise Up Shepherd and Follow,” and the traditional Hanukkah prayer “Hanerot Halalu.”
Tickets for the concert are $20 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under. They can be purchased at Michael’s Jewelers, online at bristolchorale.org, or at the Chorale’s Monday rehearsals.
