The Bristol Department of Public Works has announced that water will be temporarily shut off on Wolcott Street between Peck Lane and Crown Street today, Friday, Dec. 13, to repair a water main break. The shutdown began at 9 a.m. and may last for several hours, with surrounding areas possibly experiencing low water pressure during the disruption.
Once the water is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to the repair process. If this occurs, the department advises customers to run an outside faucet or cold water from a bathtub until the water clears.
For customers who experience an extended service interruption, a water filling station is available at the Water Filtration Plant, located at 1080 Terryville Avenue. The station is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is free of charge to those affected by the disruption. Customers are asked to bring their own containers, and Filtration Plant operators will assist in filling them.
To help ensure a smooth process, the department requests that customers call the Water Filtration Plant in advance of their arrival at (860) 583-6504.
