Local rock and roll favorites will come together for a special charity concert this weekend at Bleachers in Bristol. The Holiday Veterans Concert, organized by Mike Cansdale of Big Mac Productions, will benefit the Veterans Strong Community Center and honor the memory of Cansdale’s late brother, Eldon John Cansdale, an Army veteran and Russian linguist who served in Germany.
The concert, set for Saturday, Dec. 21, will feature live performances by local bands The Skulk, Wint & The Crossroad Band, and LiveWired Acoustic. These talented groups, who belong to larger musical acts, have volunteered their time to support veterans in the community.
“What excites me is the amount of talent with these three groups who unselfishly give up their time and talents to help toward the bigger picture, which is to help our local veterans,” Cansdale said. “100% of the proceeds go directly to the Veterans Strong Community Center in Bristol.”
Cansdale, a Bristol resident, has organized dozens of charity events. In addition to the Rock for Vets fundraisers, he has also helped raise funds for local nonprofit Brian’s Angels, a shelter for the homeless. Plans are already in motion for more benefit concerts, including one for Brian’s Angels in the spring.
The Holiday Veterans Concert will take place at Bleachers, located at 300 Middle St. in Bristol, from 1-6 p.m., with doors opening at 12 p.m. Tickets are priced at $10.
