Bristol Central traveled to Simsbury on Monday
The Rams came ready to play and controlled the first period, taking an early lead.
BC held onto their lead and built it up to a 17 point halftime advantage.
Simsbury came out of halftime and started shooting the ball well in the 3rd quarter. However, Central still managed to carry a 16 point advantage going into the 4th.
The Trojans came out on fire to begin the 4th and were hitting from all over 3 point land. At the same time, Central experienced some offensive struggles. Simsbury was able to come all the way back and tied the game at 60.
A Rams player was fouled with four seconds remaining. He wasn’t able to connect on either free throw. This sent the game into overtime.
The Trojans came into overtime and continued their torrid shooting. That spelled the Rams’ demise, as Simsbury finished off the Rams, 73-68.
Nate Ortiz led Bristol Central in scoring, connecting for six three pointers. Quincy Lawson recorded another double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
With the loss, the Rams dropped to 1-2. Simsbury’s first win of the season brought their record to 1-2 also.
Bristol Central will next take on Bristol Eastern on Friday, December 27th at 7:30 in the annual Christmas tournament at Bristol Central.
