The girls of Waterbury Career Academy used a dominant third quarter performance to emerge with a 42-39 comeback victory over St. Paul Friday night.
The Falcons led by eight, 26-18, at the half, but WCA surged in the third quarter, outscoring St. Paul, 14-3, to take a three point lead into the final period.
St. Paul was within a basket the whole fourth quarter, but could never get over the top.
Zola Cudjoe was a force throughout for the Falcons, scoring 18 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.
Malina Figueroa scored 18 for WCA. Sierra Brown added 16 for the victors.
St. Paul is now 3-2 for the season. Their next game is at Ansonia on Tuesday in a 6:30 start.
