Conard dominates at home, defeating Bristol Eastern girls 68-45

On January 14, the Lancers headed to Conard High School to compete against the Red Wolves. Eastern and Conard went at each other hard, with each team playing tough defense and quick offense. Unfortunately for Eastern, Conard had too many weapons and BE lost, 68-45.

In the first quarter, the Red Wolves had a quick lead with Emily Knowles hitting several three’s. Bristol Eastern’s Autumn Udoh responded, hitting layups and totalling 9 of her 25 points to keep the Lancers in the game momentarily.

Knowles scored 10 first quarter points, including four of her seven three-pointers as Conard jumped out to a 24-12 lead after one.

In the second period, Knowles scored 10 points as Conard outscored Eastern 21-7 in the period, and led 45-19 at the half.

Eastern outscored Conard in the second half 26-23, but the game was over at the half.

In the third quarter, the Lancers came out with more determination. Udoh contributed with her scoring and Jayla Evins-Mosley played tough defense. The score was 57-33 after three periods.

In the final quarter, the Lancers fought hard to the end. Udoh continued to score and Amanda Noel added some tough defense.

It was a very tough battle for the Lancers. In the end, only so much defense and offense can help. The Redwolves took the win simply by hitting multiple 3’s all night long.

Udoh stood out all night for the Lancers totaling 25 points. Jayla Evins-Mosley added 6 points to the BE cause.

Conard improved their season record to 9-1, while Eastern drops to 4-5.

The Lancers (4-5), play back to back games on Thursday and Friday this week. The first one is home against Ellington High School on January 16th at 6:30, and the second is away at Enfield High School at 6:30.
