Platt defeats Bristol Eastern in boys basketball Tuesday night, 70-49

The Bristol Eastern boys basketball team lost a 70-49 decision to a very athletic Platt team on Tuesday night in a game played at BE. 

Speed, defense, and rebounding keyed the Panthers victory.

Eastern trailed 12-9 after the first quarter of play.  Both teams were searching for an advantage.

Platt led 30-16 with 1:30 to play before halftime and, but the Lancers made a run in the last minute of play. A Zaveon Tate hoop, plus threes from Jacob Kingsley and Shaun Byrd closed the gap to 30-24 at the half.

Midway through the third period with the score at 41-28, Platt ran off eight straight points to go up 49-28. The game was effectively over as the Panthers maintained that lead for the rest of the game….

For Eastern, Jordan Chisholm and Tate were the leading scorers with 13 and 12 respectively.

For Platt, Naiem Gill scored 20,  Giovanni Leary added 19, and Efrain Brown scored 10 to lead the scoring.

Eastern is now 6-4 on the season, while Platt improved to 5-3.

Eastern’s next game is Friday at Glastonbury.
