Bristol Eastern girls basketball triumphs over Ellington Thursday night, 40-32

The Bristol Eastern girls basketball team led wire to wire as they defeated Ellington by the score of 40-32 in a game played at Bristol Eastern Thursday night.

In the first quarter, the Lancers started strong with Autumn Udoh leading the way with 6 points. Leah Roy played tight defense to help Eastern forge to an 11-5 first quarter lead.

In the second period, Cassie Sward and Jayla Evins-Mosley each scored 5 points as Eastern stretched the margin to 21-12 at the half.

In the final stanza, the Landers worked hard work on defense with Amanda Noel blocking multiple shots. The final score was 40-32, as Ellington made some runs but could never overtake the Lancers.

Sward was the leading scorer for BE Thursday night. He scored 17 points. Udoh added 15 points and also contributed with multiple shot blocks and rebounds.

Julia Laughlin led the Ellington Knights with 12 points while Lyndsie Kozik scored 9. 

The Lancers record is now 5-5. They were looking for another win at Enfield High School on Friday.
