Letters to the editor policy

Please keep letters to a maximum of 400 words.

Personal attacks will not be published. In other words, stick to the issues. Longer letters will be edited for length, or they might be considered for guest essays.

All letters will be edited for style.

Submit letters via email. The ideal letter is one submitted as an attachment, i.e., a Word file, but letters incorporated into the body of an email are also acceptable. Type “Letter to the editor” in the subject line on the email. Submit to editor@bristoledition.org.

Provide a name and address, and if appropriate some indication of your affiliation with a subject, for instance, if a campaign manager for a candidate, or some professional accreditation that might help the reader understand your position better.

Emails with Bristol addresses will get preference. If the writer is a former resident, please provide a note indicating this.

Regarding campaign related letters, they will be published through the Saturday prior to the election.

The Bristol Edition reserves the right to publish or not to publish a letter. Information included in a letter may be subject to further clarification and, possibly, reporting.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
